Music Recording: The Right Tools and Hight Quality Sound

If you want to produce high quality sound is very important to have the right tools. To start your music recording adventure, you will need some basic gear such as audio interface, microphone, speakers and headphones.

Audio interface

An interface is where you will plug the mic and the instruments. This audio interface will change the signal of the instruments and microphone into a signal that can be read by the computer and then change it back for you to be able to hear the sound from your speakers or headphones.

Microphone

You can get good quality microphones at low prices. It is better if you include a stand for it, as well as a pop filter or shield to avoid the “b” and “p” noises while singing.

Headphones

Another important piece of equipment are the headphones which are key when it comes to isolating your voice from any other sound. You can use normal ones, but the preference is to use closed-back headphones to avoid any sound leaking that could be picked up by the microphone. Headphones also give you privacy and allow you to focus on the sound by reducing the environmental noises.

Speakers

Finally, the monitor speakers that are not needed for recording if you have good quality headphones but you will need them when you do the mixing. They are more reliable than stereo speakers because you can hear a more the recording more accurately.

Filters

You can also apply filters during production to reduce noise and eliminate other frequencies and finally do the editing on multiple tracks and the mixing to then put all tracks in one.

Remember, you can always upgrade your software to improve the results, but keep in mind that, as a beginner, you can have your own home audio recording from the scratch and buy your gear with just a little bit of money and still produce a high-quality material.
